Scatec group
- Norwegian company focused on early stage development of high growth companies within the renewable energy and advanced materials sectors
- Privately held by Dr Alf Bjørseth and family.
- Scatec was founded by Dr. Bjørseth in 1987. He later founded several solar companies which were merged to form Renewable Energy Corporation (REC)
- Dr. Bjørseth exited REC upon the IPO in 2006.
- Scatec Solar was founded in 2007 with proceeds from the sale of a stake in REC.
Itochu
- Japan’s leading trading house with 150 years of experience in global trade
- Listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange with market cap. of $49.1bn (as of 23 December 2011)
- More than $34bn in annual revenue
- In April 2009, Itochu established the Solar Business Department to pursue solar business on a coordinated corporate-wide basis with the intention of integrating its business activities across the entire solar power value chain
- Itochu is Scatec Solar’s partner for logistics and trade finance
